BdG-2012-1-2013-1&6 - MONDINEU

Voltaire and Léon Mondineu

Pierre MONDINEU (1847-1925), clog maker in Pindères (47) and maker of bohas.

He made this instrument for his son Léon Mondineu (1871-1964) Bohaire who also played the violin and who sometimes played "the photographer".

There are three copies of these instruments that belonged to Voltaire Mondineu.

The first in the order of the records (BdG-2012-1) is that kept at the Paul Dupuy Museum in Toulouse.

Lthe other two copies were found thanks to research by Jean-Pascal Leriche. He obtained essential information from Patrice Bianco and Pierre Corbefin. Patrice Bianco, thanks to a loan from Voltaire Mondineu, had these two instruments available for about a year and a half in the late 1970s.

On this occasion, his research led us to estimate that the removable part of the Brunidèir of the Mondineu-3 boha (Bdg-2013-06) was in fact that of the Mondineu-2 boha (BdG-2013-01).

When Patrick Burbaud recovered these instruments to measure them, the removable part some brunidèir was attached to the boha Mondineu-3 as originally and as on the photo (fig-17 page 39) of Lothaire Mabru's work "La bagpipe des landes de Gascogne" - Belin-Beliet, Center Lapios du Bazadais - "Les Amis du Bazadais" 1986 edition.
