Location of historic bohas

The bohas found in the past and more recently are located between the departments of Gironde, Lot et Garonne and Landes. Researches are underway in the Gers where the trace of a bohaire has been found. In addition, this department is mentioned in the Linguistic Atlas of Mr. Jean Seguy, the name of bohica is given to the bagpipes of the Landes de Gascogne

The location is not always precise because the place where an instrument is found is not necessarily the one where it was performed. Indeed, there are instruments found with heirs or in flea markets. We must therefore remain cautious!

The map shown below gives a global location of known or mentioned "find" places in old documents. Some of the bohas mentioned are not listed on the map because the places where they were found are not identified. It is completed by the list including the names of the villages.
